A quick report on the PSA Parliaments group’s activities at the Political Studies Association international annual conference 2018.
Last month the PSA Parliaments group travelled to Cardiff for the Political Studies Association international annual conference 2018: #PSA18. We held six panels with twenty-three papers, covering topics including diversity in select committee witnesses; parliament and devolution; the use of parliamentary questions in Holyrood, Westminster and Stormont; the performance of provincial legislatures in Canada; and the work of the Global Research Network on Parliaments and People.

We were also delighted to be awarded the Political Studies Association Specialist Group of the Year award! The feedback from the judges is below – more information on the PSA website
“We are really impressed with the legacy from their text book, and their online presence! A weekly blog is quite an undertaking, and covers a diverse – and international – set of topics. But it is super to see that they also think about resources for other users too. that’s a great example of engagement. They have also been very active in supporting younger scholars from undergraduate through to early career. It’s also super to see them enjoying their own conferences so much, and that this year they are co-hosting with the Scottish Study of Parliament group.”
Congratulations to our members Nicholas Allen of Royal Holloway, who won the Richard Rose prize for a significant contribution to the study of British politics, and Rebecca McKee who won the Arthur McDougall Fund Prize, for the best PhD dissertation int he field of elections, electoral systems and representation.
