The PSA Parliaments working paper series publishes working papers across the sub-discipline of parliamentary and legislative studies.
If you are interested in publishing a working paper in the series, please send an expression of interest to Seán, Diana or Caroline. The expression of interest should include:
- A provisional title;
- A 300-word abstract;
- An estimated word-length; and, if you are a PhD student,
- A letter of support from your supervisor(s)
To be eligible for publishing in the series, you must be a member of PSA Parliaments. We will not publish working papers written by undergraduate or MA students under any circumstances.
If, on the basis of your expression of interest, PSA Parliaments invites you to contribute to the series, you will be sent a working paper template which you will be expected to follow. Publication of the working paper will not occur until the final draft is approved by PSA Parliaments. If publication is approved, you will be expected to also write a 800-1200 word blog for our website.
The working papers are not peer-reviewed and PSA Parliaments will not proof-read your work. However, PSA Parliaments will offer to comment on your draft working paper, will undertake light editing, and will advertise the working paper through its newsletter and Twitter feed.
You will retain ownership of the material contained within the working paper and PSA Parliaments will impose no constraints on you using your material elsewhere. PSA Parliaments strongly encourages you to ensure that pre-publishing your research as a working paper will not jeopardise their chances of publishing in peer-review journals. PSA Parliaments is not responsible for making these checks.
If you have a question about the publication process, please contact Seán, Diana or Caroline.
