What we do

The PSA Parliaments specialist group supports members in their research and teaching on parliaments and legislatures and promotes the exchange of ideas through conferences, events, publications, and the group’s blog.

Who we are

The Group Convenors are Diana Stirbu, Caroline Bhattacharya and Ruxandra Serban, our Treasurer and Membership Officer is Lauren Martin, and our Communications Officer is Jack Liddall.

Membership & Constitution

We welcome all academics, postgraduates, undergraduates and teachers – whether based in the UK or beyond – who have a research or teaching interest in parliament or in areas linked to parliament. Membership is also open to practitioners working in or with parliamentary institutions at a national, sub-national or supra-national level.

Blogs & Parliament Overviews

We publish blogs on parliaments or legislatures regularly, and always welcome new posts addressing topical issues or sharing new research. We also welcome blog posts or ideas from practitioners working within a parliament or legislature (for example, the inside look at the House of Lords Library by Matthew Purvis). Our blog includes posts on legislatures from across the globe, at national, sub-national and supra-national levels of governance.

We are very keen to increase the diversity of contributions to our blog, in particular, the number of blogs we publish from women, or people of colour. Blog submissions from early career researchers are also especially welcome.

If you have an idea for a blog and would like to discuss it further, please get in touch with Jack.
